Accelerating Change: Dealing with our Blind Spots in Dispute Resolution
We will interactively discuss some of the challenges of community, diversity, access, representation and bias in relation to dispute resolution in Canada and abroad. Over the past number of years, much has been done to increase the inclusion with the appointments of arbitrators and mediators, selection of counsel, educational programing, social gatherings, organizational leadership, and many other formal and informal groups. Even with this progress, we need to acknowledge that there is still a gap between where we think we are and where we need to be. This panel will not only discuss and challenge our presumptions, but also provide valuable insight into what we can do individually and collectively to consciously overcome these dispute resolution blind spots.
