9:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Legislative Reform in Ontario and England
Arbitration legislation in both Ontario and England is under review. The Chair of the TCAS Arbitration Act Reform Committee will discuss the proposal for a single Act for commercial arbitration in Ontario, while the Director General of the London Court of International Arbitration will discuss the English Law Commission’s review of the Arbitration Act 1996.

11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Challenges to Arbitrator Appointments – Both Literal and Figurative
Conflicts of interest, accusations of bias, doubts about capability – arbitrators are facing challenges to their appointments now more than ever. Our panel will consider the variety of challenges arbitrators are facing when they take appointments, the merits and de-merits of such challenges, and the attempts being made after the fact to set aside awards.
